Torrance Best Podiatrist at All South Bay Footcare
If you want a great Podiatrist in Torrance CA or a Foot Doctor in South Bay, Los Angeles area, give All South Bay Footcare a call today to make an appointment. Dr Teles will look at your foot and come up with a diagnosis and proper treatment plan.
How far can great care from a podiatrist reach? All the way up to the smile on your face! Strong, healthy, pain-free feet have an impact on everything you do. Sore feet may keep you from exercising, putting your heart health at risk. Misaligned or injured feet will impact your stride, which will alter your gait, which will cause pain and misalignment in your knees, hips, and spine.
To truly put both of your best feet forward, your feet need to be free of injury and correctly aligned. If you notice pain in your feet during your daily activities, don’t ignore it. Heel pain can be an indicator of conditions such as plantar fasciitis or bone spurs. Pain at the ball of the foot may mean that you have bunions forming and have a dangerous misalignment developing.
The “foot-bone”–actually, all 28 of them–truly connect to every aspect of your life. Damaged or injured feet can impact many other aspects of your health and leave you feeling sedentary and isolated. We are ready to help.
Our Wonderful Torrance Podiatrist
Dr. Teles is one of the best Torrance foot doctors, know how critical it is to keep your feet in great shape. Both of the podiatrists in our office have families they need to keep up with. In addition, they are athletes who know how frustrating it is to sit on the bench because you’re injured.
No matter how you found us, we’re very glad you’re here and are excited to get you moving forward on healthy feet.
What to Expect – First Visit to All South Bay Footcare

We Get You In On Time
2. Appointment Checklist
Bring a list of questions for us!
We’ll also need:
• Your ID or driver’s license
• Health insurance data
• Bring list of your current medications
Foot injuries should always be checked out by a podiatrist. If you have chronic foot pain not related to an injury, you don’t need to suffer. There are some diseases, such as diabetes, that are especially hard on the feet. Finally, we love to see healthy feet! It’s much easier to keep your feet in good shape than to suffer having them falling apart.
3. We’ll View Your Foot from Every Angle
The circulation in your feet is critical to both good health and happiness. Chronically cold feet will make you miserable, make it hard to relax and make it almost impossible to sleep. We check that, as well as the condition of your skin and any hard calluses that form due to your gait and your toenails.
We’ll also check the muscular strength of your feet. Weak feet often develop after an injury. For example, if you break a toe, you’ll probably limp. During the healing process, the foot that you’re trying to protect will grow a bit weaker. If you’re not conscious of working that foot back to the same strength level as the other foot, the foot may become misaligned.
Finally, if you suffer from bunions, we will review any needed corrective devices to straighten and strength the foot. Hammertoes will be examined and the proper treatment will be suggested.
4. An Ounce of Prevention can Reduce Your Aching Feet
Once we’ve determined the current condition of your feet, we can help you move forward.
Your feet are critical to maintaining good physical health. We are here to build or help re-establish your feet as good partners in a healthy life
5. Change Your Life, Get Happier Feet!
Maintaining good overall health is critical to getting and keeping healthy feet. Healthy feet will make exercise much easier. Smoking impacts your circulation, and few parts of your body suffer more than your feet if your circulation is poor.
We can help you get into a healthy walking program. Not only is it the simplest form of exercise you can enjoy, but walking is actually good for your feet! It gets the blood moving through those tissues, carrying away toxins and oxygenating your bones, muscles and skin.
Finally, we are here to help you manage diabetes. A diagnosis of diabetes can be life-changing. It can be the catalyst to get you up and moving, change your diet and truly focus on your health. If your feet are in good shape, we can help you keep them that way. If not, we can help you bring them back into health.
6. Ways We Can Help
As we age, our feet need more help. Unfortunately, they can also be harder to get to and harder to see. Our services can help you maintain good foot health.
Tips for Healthy Feet
1. Inspect your feet regularly. You may need to sit on the floor and pull your feet into your lap individually, or you may need to use a mirror to see the bottom of your foot.
2. Maintain good foot hygiene. Once your foot is clean, also keep things dry between your toes.
3. Hydrate the skin. A heavy or thick foot cream is better than lotion but lotion is better than noting, particularly if you suffer from calluses.
4. Buy properly sized and supportive shoes. Flip-flops are fun at the pool but they’re not great for your feet long-term. Try to buy shoes at the end of the day and be ready to go up a size to give yourself a little flex.
5. Don’t ignore foot pain. Even if you know why something hurts, getting injuries checked out can save you a lot of pain in the future.
6. Cut toenails straight across. Shaping or rounding the toenail can cause an ingrown toenail. Instead of cutting away the corners, treat them with an emery board to remove anything sharp.
7. Exercise with an eye toward stronger feet. Walking is a great way to get started. Jogging takes a lot more stamina but can make it easier to maintain a healthy weight
8. Let your shoes completely dry out between wearings to reduce the risk of a fungus lingering in the shoes.
9. Avoid walking barefoot to protect your feet from injury. A badly stubbed toe can destroy a lot of plans and take quite a while to heal.
10. Sunburned feet hurt and are very unpleasant when they peel. Wear sunblock.

Permanent Ingrown Toenail Removal
If you’ve never suffered from an ingrown toenail, congratulations! Those who’ve suffered from this frustrating and painful condition know just how much anguish that condition can cause.
What is an ingrown toenail?
Your nails lie on and protect a bed of tissue. If the edge of the nail doesn’t fit correctly in the side groove of that bed, the nail can curl down and cut into the tissue at the side of the toe. The toe can swell, become infected, and ooze. Worst of all, it hurts!
What can I do on my own?
In the early stages, you can soak your foot in warm epsom salt water. If the problem gets worse, see Dr Teles or Dr Demian.

What will the podiatrist do?
Now, there is a procedure that eliminates ingrown toenails. First, we will use a painless anesthesia. This new instrument called the Dermajet uses air pressure to place xylocaine (a light anesthetic) into your toe. A normal injection can then be done; you feel virtually nothing.
After Dr Teles removes the portion of the nail that has grown into the skin, he will use a special chemical to destroy the nail root. In most cases, after surgery, toenails grow normally without imbedding themselves into the skin.
Here’s what you will experience during and after surgery, which can be performed in the comfort of our office.
• No pain during surgery
• You will be able to walk immediately
• You will be able to return to work the same day
Thick Toenail Cutting and Toenail Fungus Care
Note: Most insurances including Medicare allow periodic trimming of Thick Toenails, Calluses and Corns.
If your toenails are getting too thick to manage, a fungal infection may be the problem. Psoriasis and diabetes can also impact the density of your nails. Your current state of health can help us determine the source of the problem and help to correct it or help you better care for your toenails. You may not notice your toenails thickening, but several problems can arise if the underlying problem is not addressed.
You may notice:
- an unpleasant odor
- breaking, splitting or cracking of the nail
- the nail becomes loose from the bed
- the nail is too thick to cut
- the nail becomes scaled
- the nail is discolored
- it hurts!
You can prevent a toenail fungus by keeping the nails short and clean. Avoid cotton socks that capture moisture and hold it against your skin. Look for socks that will wick or draw moisture away from your toes. Be ready to change your socks in the middle of the day if your feet sweat a lot. Wear mesh sneakers to keep air moving around your feet. Finally, make sure to keep your nail clippers disinfected and confirm that your pedicure professional does the same. Finally, avoid polish as it can make the condition worse. It’s important to note that treating a fungal nail infection isn’t just about cosmetics. A thick, unmanageable toenail can cause a great deal of foot pain and limit your ability to walk. If you struggle with any illness that impacts your immune system, the infection can become dangerous. NOTE: We have our own pathology lab in our office to do PCR testing to identify and confirm your specific nail fungus. We can do the proper treatment for your specific nail fungus! We have several options for antifungal treatment for your nails and feet. Some advanced in-house treatments we offer include laser treatments. A dermatology laser treatment can make new growth thinner and healthier. We will help get your nails back to normal, easy to manage nails. The treatment itself generally leaves no sign. Over time, the problem is corrected.
Plantar fasciitis – When Foot Pain Gets Critical!
The arch of your foot is lined with a tough, fibrous band of tissue called the plantar fascia. From the heel to the ball of your foot, this stretch of connective tissue provides you with a great deal of support. However, if this tissues starts to suffer a great deal of stress or becomes inflamed, you can develop a brutally painful condition called plantar fasciitis.
While this form of foot pain is remarkably common, it’s also incredibly painful. If you have a high arch or subject your feet to a great deal of pressure as a runner, this band of connective tissue will let you know it’s damaged. You can also stress the tissue by carrying too much weight and by not stretching your calves well. If you can’t easily flex your foot without foot pain, tight calves may be the cause.
For some women, wearing heels can lead to inflammation. However, women who switch from heels to flats or vice versa can also suffer from the heel pain associated with plantar fasciitis. Our podiatrist can help you find the right foot gear and the best stretches to stretch the ligament and reduce your pain.
Heel Pain Care and Treatment – Bone Spur
Heel pain can usually be tied to plantar fasciitis. Untreated plantar fasciitis can create heel spurs.
Heel spurs are common in those who suffer from over or under-pronation as they walk and develop plantar fasciitis. This walking pattern cause the arch to fall and puts a great deal of stress on the ligaments in the feet. Where the ligament attached to the heel bone, you can develop inflammation and ultimately scar tissue that’re referred to as a heel spur. So make sure you get your plantar fasciitis treated.
Notice how the plantar fasciitis is connected to heel spur area.
Plantar Warts
Plantar warts are caused by viruses that appear as small growths appearing on your weight bearing areas like your heals or toes. This pressure can cause plantar warts to grow deep under thick skin layer (calluses).
HPV viruses cause these plantar warts. These viruses enter through small weak spots or cuts and breaks on the bottom of your feet.
Signs and symptoms of Plantar Warts are:
- A small rough, grainy growth on the bottom pressure areas of your foot. The are usually found on the toes or heal.
- A well defined spot under thickened skin or calluses where the plantar warts have grown inward.
- Small pinpoint black spots commonly called wart seeds.
- You feel pain and tender spots on pressure points under your feet
Diabetic Foot Care is About Prevention
If you’ve been diagnosed with diabetes, you need to see a podiatrist. Diabetes can limit your ability to feel your own feet, a condition known as sensory diabetic neuropathy. If your feet are less sensitive than you realize, you may suffer a blister or another injury that causes a breaking of the skin.
Diabetics suffer from limited circulation, so any foot injury will take longer to heal. As noted above, you may not be aware of the injury until it’s advanced because of a loss of feeling in your feet. In addition to setting up a quarterly check of your feet, there are things you can do at home to protect your feet from long-term diabetic damage.
Prevention is critical.
You will need to:
- invest in good-fitting shoes with plenty of padding
- wear socks that draw moisture away
- inspect your feet regularly, especially if you have new shoes or like to go barefoot
- do not attempt callus or corn repair on your own
- give your feet a break on walks by slipping off your shoes to let your feet dry while you catch your breath
Corns and Callouses
Painful calluses and corns are created by friction or pressure from your footwear and bone deformities.
Our podiatrists can help you diagnose the cause. They may recommend comfortable footwear, or even flat shoes instead of high heels.
We either treat the problem externally or internally. Externally is removing the buildup of thick skin tissue for relief or internally is identifying the bony prominence causing the problem and a simple procedure to remove it. This will remove the underlying cause of the problem.
Do not try cutting the callus or corn yourself. You can actually make the problem more painful and even possibly become infected.

Ankle and knee problems
If your feet can’t support your body properly, the misalignment can quickly travel up to ankles, knees, hips and spine. A properly fitted pair of orthotics can save you a lot of pain over the long term, so consider podiatry.
Why should I See a Podiatrist?
The condition of your feet can impact the health of the rest of your body. If you’re diabetic and your feet begin to ulcerate or break down, you may be at risk of gangrene.
If your feet roll to the inside or rigid and roll to the outside, you may be damaging your knees and hips. Finally, one bad bout of plantar fasciitis can make your life miserable.
If your feet hurt come see us so you can get moving again. Your treatment may include the removal of an ingrown toenail or fitting you for orthotics to support the arch of your foot or one of many other foot treatments
When should I See a Podiatrist?
Your feet are literally the base of your health. In addition to 28 bones, your feet are built of ligaments, tendons, joints, and muscles. Damage or strain to any connective tissue in your feet can cause pain and alter the alignment of your body.
While anyone can stub a toe or twist an ankle, foot pain should be short-term. If you suffer for more than two days with swelling, numbness or severe pain, contact your podiatrist. In addition, if you have an open sore or signs of infection, it should be checked out.
If you suffer from foot pain that just won’t clear up, you may be suffering from one of many conditions and need to contact your podiatrist.
